Rally at Rep. Rick Larsen's office with his aid Ryan Casey. After our discussion, Mr. Casey asked us for an email for our main points which Sean Arent of the WANW provided. A copy is pasted here:
Hi Ryan,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with members of our coalition outside of the Everett office on Monday. I'll include our requests for Larsen below as well as some helpful legislation not mentioned on Monday.
1. Oppose all funding for new nuclear weapons - this doesn't include maintenance of the current arsenal or dismantling costs, but new weapons programs such as the Sentinel Missile, W93, and expanded Plutonium production in Savannah River, Livermore, and Los Alamos. We are strongly opposed to the $2 trillion modernization plan, especially at a time with no serious arms control dialogue or treaties in place.
2. Oppose military aid to Israel.
3. Co-sponsor the People Over Pentagon Act,
House # 1134, oppose endless military spending increases in appropriations.
We would also request that Rep. Larsen joins the following legislation:
Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act of 2023
Introduced by Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36)
House # 669
HALT Act of 2023 ‘‘Hastening Arms Limitations Talks"
The 12-page HALT act includes a long list of measures to reduce the risk of nuclear war and to promote disarmament.
Introduced by Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Jim McGovern 9D-MA)
House # 3154
Block Nuclear Launch by Autonomous Artificial Intelligence Act
This legislation intends to prevent artificial intelligence from launching a nuclear weapon.
Introduced by Representatives Ted Lieu (D-CA), Don Beyer (D-VA), Ken Buck (R-CO) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA)
House # 2894
Senate # 1394
House Cosponsors: 22
Lastly, we would like to request a meeting with the Representative to discuss these points.
Sincerely,
--
